Big Day

SO I’ve been thinking a lot about tomorrow April 17th 2010 and all that it entails. I get to play drums for one of my best friends Shawn Starbuck at his CD Release party.

I’ve got all of the tracks memorized, all the loops ready and the control surface too to get everything going. I’ve got all of my gear, my in-ears, new sticks. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this day for a very long time.

All in all I’m super stoked and ready to go. Can’t wait for tomorrow.

What is a shuffle?

Don’t know how this whole thing started but I woke up thinking I really wanted to learn the “shuffle” beat from Rosanna performed by TOTO and played by the late Jeff Porcaro. So I youtubed it and found Jeff Porcaro breaking it down. You can see the video here:
Jeff Porcaro breaking down the Rosanna shuffle.

Jeff talked about his influences being John  Bonham and Bernard Purdie. So I did a little more digging and found this video. Purdie Shuffle. Man would I love to spend time with this guy. I love his feel for the instrument and his touch. I know it’s a little dorky but I got choked up by watching this video. It touched me.

So hopefully tonight when I get home I’ll work on the Purdie shuffle and the Rosanna Shuffle.

A poem I wrote about my mom after she passed.

she awakens to the site of her savior.
Her breath now complete.

Only you Lord have I longed for.  My life I have laid down for you.
Wow, it’s great to see you.
How I’ve waited for this moment.
To see your face and to feel you so close.
Your love oh Lord is amazing.
You’re more beautiful then I could have ever imagined.

Lord, thanks for all you’ve done.
I knew you were there when I was scared.
I knew you were with me when I almost died.

As He wraps her in His loving arms she melts into Him.
How long she’s waited for this moment.
The warmth of his touch.
The beat of his heart.
The strength of His embrace.
The light that shines forth from Him.

Sweet Surrender

Sweet Surrender

Fear kept her breathing. So many things in doubt.

Her heart troubled with so many unanswered questions.

What would her legacy be?

She dreamed many a night of running, playing and riding a bike.
Her new home, she dreamed of filled her heart and mind. Sweet Surrender.
The dream so sweet while it lasted but when she awoke it was shattered yet again.

The struggle for every breath and answer to her longings a step away.

She was tired.

She was willing,

She was ready.

Sweet surrender

This sweet surrender I am letting go of Fear, Doubt, this fragile body, addiction, sadness.

I am letting go, this sweet surrender.

I am at peace, this sweet surrender
I am at peace with my creator
I am at peace with all that is in me.
Let me see my Father’s face

Her eyes fixed firmly on her Savior.
The cries of her loves fill the air.
The mask removed set her free.
The breath of eternal life she breathes in deep as she gently slipped away.
This sweet surrender.

I am ready to see Jesus
I am ready to see Jesus is there any thing you want me to ask him?
I am at peace with this sweet surrender.

We stood there watching to see what would happen next. The words spoken by all seemed to flow through the air and bounce off the walls. She lay there laboring for every breath. Her eyes closed but very aware of all the things that surround here. “Come awake.” He says to her. She sits up and pulls the mask, asking to be set free. “come awake, and rise” he says again. But it’s only she that can hear His words. “Climb from your grave Into the light”. The mask is put back on to help her breathe. We ask her to hold on knowing it would be painful for her if she didn’t. ” Just be quiet and wait for the voice”. A venom injected into her allows her to rest. The mask removed. She breathes on her own for the last time. ” Can you feel when your last breath is gone?” Minutes and seconds pass between breaths. Then there are no more. Where there once were words, only weeping fills the air now.

“Come awake
From sleep, arise
You were dead
Youve come alive
Wake up wake up
Open your eyes
Climb from your grave
Into the light”

How nice it is to have you home my love.

For my MySpace Friends.

To Phish or not to Phish

Ok friends, here goes. I have seen a lot of you posting bulletins saying click here for sexy pictures, free ringtones, etc. And I am pretty sure that it’s not you sending them out.

Please take some time and go to your inbox and then Bulletins then click on “Show Bulletins I’ve Posted”. How many of those did you really send?

The point here is that if those bulletins are being sent out, your MySpace account has been “hacked”. Please change your password now. I know this might seem a bit over-reactish but if you have any private or personal data on your myspace account the hacker has it now too.

So you may be asking how did I get hacked? Well that’s somewhat easy as I foiled a “phishing”plot last week. I have been doing web design and development for over 10 years. I know what to look out for when malicious people want to do things. The number one trick here is asking you to click on something to see pictures, or some other thing.

Once they get you away from the site, they’ll duplicate the look and feel of the myspace login page. Then, you login as normal. But what you didn’t know is you just gave away your login info.

The rule of thumb here. ALWAYS look at URLS before you click. If you don’t know how to see the URL of a hyper link. Right click and select properties. NEVER login unless you see login.myspace.com or www.myspace.com and nothing else. Sorry for lecture guys, I just care to much to see you get hurt.

If you have any questions please email me.
